The City of Kingsville Health Department Animal Control & Care Center received notification of a mosquito that tested positive for West Nile Virus from the Texas Department of State Health Services lab. The mosquito was trapped July 14th in the 700 block of E Warren.
Crews will begin spraying the affected areas tonight and run through Friday evening. Other arbovirus testing remains negative.
Tips for mosquito safety: Wear long sleeves and long pants if you're outdoors at dawn or dusk, use a mosquito repellant that contains DEET, check your property for any standing water, and keep your lawn maintained to help curb mosquito breeding.
