Performance with Summer Youth Orchestra Participants

  • Richardson Performance Hall 101 Baldwin Boulevard Corpus Christi, TX, 78404 United States (map)

Every June, Coastal Bend high school-age string players––including violin, viola, cello and bass––are given the opportunity to expand their musicianship by practicing alongside sages with the Corpus Christi Chamber Orchestra at Del Mar College, a community ensemble with the DMC Music Department. For several weeks, the young “students of string” spend their Thursday evenings working on pieces for the chamber orchestra’s annual summer performance.

This year, both young musicians and their older counterparts will perform works by several composers, including Wagner, Verdi, Sullivan, Smetana and Neal Hefti, beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 21, in Richardson Performance Hall on the College’s Heritage Campus. The performance is free and open to the public.
