Piano Recital at Del Mar College with Guest Artist Lina Morita

Japanese-Brazilian pianist Lina Morita's international career has taken her throughout the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, France and the Czech Republic.

Morita made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2013, and she has performed at II Festival Eleazar de Carvalho, IX Festival de Música de Santa Catarina in Brazil, the Bertramka Museum in Prague, the Music Center at Strathmore in Maryland and the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C. Presented by Del Mar College’s Cultural Programs Series and the DMC  Music Department, Morita will perform Chopin’s Sonata No, 3, Ravel’s “Gaspard de la Nuit” and works by Ponce, Villa-Lobos and Clarice Assad during a recital starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in Wolfe Recital Hall on the Heritage Campus.

Morita’s discography includes recordings with soprano Carol Lines (Centaur Records), cellist Dennis Parker (Nucello Recordings) and “Landscapes” with guitarist Jay Kacherski (Frameworks Records). Dr. Morita has earned degrees from Eastman School of Music, Rice University and Indiana University, and she is currently a professor with the Piano faculty at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The recital is free and open to the public.
