Del Mar College’s Art Program and the DMC Cultural Programs Committee presents the first Art Talk this academic year with San Antonio-based photographer Ansen Seale and his slide lecture “Overlooked: Finding the Art in a Difficult Landscape.”
The free presentation begins at 11 a.m. in the College’s Richardson Performance Hall on the Heritage Campus (101 Baldwin Blvd., 78404) and is open to the public. Seale works in a little-known photographic genre called slitscan photography, which allows the artist to explore ideas about time and our place in its continuum.
Seale uses the special camera he invented to document a single slice of imagery over a period of time. Unlike traditional photography, Seale’s work captures fast-moving objects as clear while still objects are distorted and abstracted. And, none of his images are manipulated … you only see how his own camera sees the world. Come learn more about Seale’s slitscan photography technique, along with his creation of large kinetic public sculptures. To learn more about the artist, visit Seale’s website at www.ansenseale.com/.
