Here’s a riddle … they’re beautiful, fun to make and use sheets of colorful tissue paper. What are they? They’re Mexican paper flowers that are used to decorate for festivals and celebrations. And, as Del Mar College’s final observance as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, you can learn how to create these wonders during a workshop at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, now scheduled in Room 319 in the Coles Building on the Heritage Campus. Join DMC staff for the Mexican Flower Making Workshop to discover the art of creating papel picado, the brightly colored decorative paper craft that involves cutting intricate designs into sheets of tissue paper, along with other traditional floral designs that will end with your own masterpiece. The workshop is free and open to the public.
