Historic Preservation Art Contest

  • Corpus Christi, Texas United States (map)

Historic Preservation Month is just around the corner, and the City of Corpus Christi invites residents to participate in the celebration through an art contest.

Artists 18 and older can submit two-dimensional artwork open to all mediums. This year’s theme is “Reimagining McGregor.”

In 1929, John Frederick “Doc” McGregor and his family arrived in Corpus Christi. Doc McGregor was a practicing chiropractor working out of the Furman Building. Outside of work, Doc had a passion for photography. Over his lifetime, Doc immersed himself in the community and recorded the lives of locals within the environments they loved. Approximately two hundred thousand photographs exist in his collection. Through a lifelong hobby, McGregor documented generations of Corpus Christians and their love for the city by the Bay.

Don’t miss this chance to showcase your skills and be a part of a great artistic community.

To participate, visit https://www.cctexas.com/sites/default/files/Rediscovering-McGregor-Submission-Guidelines.pdf, where you will find the submission guidelines, contest rules, and the link to access the selected group of images to choose from.

Submission Deadline May 1.
