Del Mar College invites the Coastal Bend community to celebrate the official start of Hispanic Heritage Month during a Kickoff Celebration from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday, Sept. 16, in the Center for Mexican American Studies, located in Coles Building Room 133 on the Heritage Campus.
Experience a lively event filled with music, traditional Mexican refreshments and a display of historical posters from the Del Mar College chapter of TACHE (Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education). Additionally, Del Mar College Libraries will showcase a special display highlighting relevant cultural resource materials. Join us for an engaging and creative craft session led by DMC Libraries staff Jennifer Jimenez-Perez and Kathleen Westergren where participants will make an evil eye amulet using cardstock and tissue paper. This kickoff event will set the stage for a month of exciting activities and cultural discovery. The kickoff is free and open to the public.
