Award-winning Mexican guitarist Fernando Vilchis will visit the United States on a weeklong residency supported by an arts and cultural grant from Mexico’s government, allowing the musician to study classical guitar with Del Mar College’s Music faculty member Dr. Jay Kacherski, Assistant Professor of Music. The grant also allows Vilchis to perform concerts throughout the region. During his premiere concert at Del Mar College on Friday, Oct. 25, Vilchis will perform works from Spain, Cuba, Mexico and other countries. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Wolfe Recital Hall on the Heritage Campus and is free and open to the public.
