Please join Mayor Paulette Guajardo, Councilman Billy Lerma, and Councilman Mike Pusley, as the City announces plans to move forward with the demolition of the Cunningham Water Treatment Plant.
The demolition makes way to put this City property into use by the community by connecting it to the adjacent Labonte Park. The doubling of acreage at Labonte Park from 40 to 80 acres will allow for more park features and amenities.
Located on the Nueces River, the Cunningham Water Treatment Plant was the City’s first water treatment plant. The facility was built in 1915, completing upgrades in 1950. The property has been abandoned since the 1980s.
