42nd annual National Night

  • Corpus Christi Police Department Corpus Christi, TX, 78415 United States (map)

National Night Out was introduced in August of 1984 and involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. It has grown to become a celebration beyond just leaving a front porch light on. It is an annual community-building campaign promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.

2025 National Night Out Kick-Off Event

The Corpus Christi Police Department invites all residents to participate in the 42nd annual National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
Chief Markle and all Command Staff will kick-off National Night Out with the ceremonial “lighting of the porch light.” The community and media are welcome to attend the National Night Out Kick-Off event at the 7-11/Stripes/Laredo Taco Company store, located at 4130 South Alameda, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Neighborhood Block Parties

Residents are asked to turn on their outside lights, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and spend the evening outdoors with their neighbors, police officers, and other City personnel.

Start planning now for a fun celebration to get to know your neighbors! Getting to know your neighbors assists in CCPD's mission: to work as an equal partner with the community to reduce crime and the fear of crime and enhance public safety.

Hosting a National Night Out event doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Here are some ideas to keep it simple and share the costs:

  • Email or hand deliver homemade invitations to all of your neighbors on your block.

  • Host a front yard potluck: Ask everyone to bring a lawn chair and food to share. Play games with the adults and kids!

  • Ask neighbors to turn on their lights and come outside for a walk or stop by your event.

  • Say hello, introduce yourself, help new neighbors meet each other, and share contact information.

Once you decide to host an event, please register your event with the Corpus Christi Police Department by filling out a short online form. We will do our best to stop by on October 7. Remember, any large block party (special event street closure) requires a traffic control plan that needs to be approved by ROW Management. A special event application must be submitted through the City of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department.

To register your celebration, please complete the NNO online form at: www.CorpusChristiTX.gov/NationalNightOut and include your event in our schedule of stops for the night.

The registration deadline is Tuesday, September 30th.
