Jackie De La Garza and Adrian Tijerina, Public Health Inspectors at the Corpus Christi - Nueces County Public Health District, recently led an interactive session for 94 students aged 18 to 21 at the Mary Grett Transition Center. Through their efforts, these students successfully obtained their food handler’s certificates, a significant step toward gaining employment in fields such as restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, food manufacturing, schools, colleges, and grocery stores.

The session focused on guiding the students through the food handler certification process. Key topics included maintaining personal hygiene at work and preventing food cross-contamination.

The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District is dedicated to empowering young adults with disabilities in our community by providing them with valuable skills that will help shape their future careers.
