CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi Sister City Committee invites all Corpus Christi high school sophomores and juniors to apply for a chance to travel abroad this summer to one of Corpus Christi’s Sister Cities, Agen, France, and Yokosuka, Japan. The Sister City Student Exchange Program initiative has returned after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Student Exchange Program is an opportunity awarded to Corpus Christi high school sophomores and juniors who have outstanding academic and leadership performance, a good understanding of what it means to be an ambassador for Corpus Christi, and a keen interest in learning about the world outside of the United States. The selection process includes a formal application and an interview with the Sister City Committee.

“The City of Corpus Christi is proud to be able to offer this cultural experience to the youth in our community,” Mayor Paulette Guajardo said. “They have an opportunity to serve as ambassadors of our great city and build international goodwill with our partnering cities.”.

The selected high school students will spend two weeks in one of our Sister Cities over the summer with a host student and family. At the end of their stay, they will return with their host student to spend another two educational and fun-filled weeks in Corpus Christi.

For more information and to receive an application, https://www.cctexas.com/studentexchange. The application deadline is April 14, 2023. Limited scholarships are available.

The Sister City Committee is a City Council-appointed Commission. The Sister City Committee liaison is Wendy Herman, with the Corpus Christi Intergovernmental Relations Department, and may be reached at CorpusChristiSisterCity@cctexas.com.
