Bishop Police Department

BISHOP, TEXAS (News Release) At approximately 8 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2024, the Bishop Police Department Shift II Patrol Officers, along with Nueces County Pct-3 Constable and Nueces County Sheriff Deputies, responded to reports of shots heard at the Bishop Courts Apartments, located in the 900 block of U.S. Highway 77, Bishop, Texas.

Upon arrival, Officers made contact with an elderly resident who advised she accidentally discharged a shotgun within her garage that she did not think was loaded.

Officers took custody of the shotgun for safe keeping and checked the residence to ensure there were no injured persons on scene.

A report was taken for discharge of a firearm within city limits and the case will be forwarded to our Criminal Investigations Division for additional follow up.
