Press Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - January 18, 2021, is nationally recognized and celebrated as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The work of volunteers on this day will honor Dr. King's life and teachings and helps meet community challenges. This initiative brings people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities together in service. MLK Day is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service — a "day on, not a day off. This day of service helps to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, address social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community."

On January 15, 2021, [9:30AM - 10":30 AM at Elliot Grant Homes, 901 North Alameda Street] the Corpus Christi Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will participate in Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service as its volunteers distribute collected cleaning supplies at the doorsteps of 40 residents at the Elliot Grant Homes. The distribution will be conducted by only a few RSVP volunteers who will follow all CDC COVID guidelines to ensure their safety and well-being.

Elliot Grant Homes is a community of specialized housing for elderly and/or disabled residents. RSVP volunteers were led to serve their neighbors.

To learn more about the RSVP program, visit www.ccparkandrec.com (Senior Services), or contact RSVP Director Ericka Maldonado at 361-826-3148.
