BISHOP, TEXAS - (News Release) This week is Red Ribbon Week 2024, which runs from October 23-31, 2024.

This week Bishop Police Department Officers will once again partner with other local law enforcement agencies, to participate in Red Ribbon Parades at several schools throughout Nueces County.

In addition, Bishop PD Officers will be visiting local Bishop C.I.S.D campuses for red ribbon week presentations and events.

The Red Ribbon Campaign® is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, impacting millions of young people each year during Red Ribbon Week® annually on October 23-31st.

The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign® is to, “present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a DRUG- FREE AMERICA”.

Red Ribbon Week began shortly after U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent, Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, was murdered in Mexico in 1985. After Special Agent Camarena’s tragic death, communities across the United States began wearing red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to remain drug free, to help raise awareness about the death and destruction caused by drugs in America, and to honor “Kiki’s” service and sacrifice.
