PREMONT, TEXAS - (News Release) On Aug. 11, 2024, day shift officers responded to an aggravated assault call on 1538 and Highway 281 to assist Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival it was discovered the assault had taken place inside the city of Premont and PPD officers took primary responsibility for the investigation. The suspect, Mr. Ramiro Tamez was arrested at his residence in Premont for the Aggravated Assault W/A Deadly Weapon (Felony) and it was discovered he had an arrest warrant from JWCSO for Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was taken to JWCSO without further incident.

Night shift Premont Police Department (PPD) officers were patrolling and made contact with Ms. Daniela Gutierrez at the park and after a brief interview found she had an active arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance out of Nueces County Sheriff’s Office and was arrested.

In her possession were several needles, a lighter, and a glass pipe that had clear indicators of being used for the purpose of narcotics consumption. She was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor). She was transported to the JWCSO without further incident.

PPD officers also detained Mr. Lucas Soliz after they discovered he had made entry into a residence through a window. An investigation was conducted, and contact was made with the homeowner, who was not present at the scene, and he was arrested for burglary of habitation.
