NUECES COUNTY - (News Release) On February 21, 2022, Jim Wells County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a business in the 5800 blk of E Hwy 44 in reference to a suspicious person. Upon arrival deputies observed a person in a vehicle, and detained the male who was later identified as Ilian Antonio Tamez (18). As deputies were conducting the investigation, a second individual fled the scene on foot. The initial investigation revealed that the pair of individuals were attempting to steal catalytic converters from vehicles at the business. Deputies arrested Tamez and charged him with burglary of a vehicle as well as criminal trespass, he was transported to the Jim Wells County Jail and incarcerated.

After conducting an investigation, Jim Wells County Criminal Investigators developed sufficient probable cause to obtain arrest warrants charging a second male individual with burglary of a vehicle and criminal trespass.

On Wednesday February 23, JWSO Investigators with the assistance of the Agua Dulce Marshal’s Office, Nueces Sheriff’s Office and Nueces Constable’s Office Precinct 5, located and arrested Juan De Los Santos Jr. (26). De Los Santos was transported to the Jim Wells County Jail where he was booked and remanded to the custody of jail staff.

This is an on-going multi-agency investigation involving Agua Dulce Marshal’s Office, Nueces Sheriff’s Office and Nueces Constable’s Office Precinct 5. The pair are believed to be involved in several other similar crimes through out Jim Wells and Nueces counties
