Man Wanted on Child Indecency Charges

HIDALGO - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested Primitivo Rico Garza, a 67-year-old man, a U.S. citizen from McAllen, Texas after discovering he had a warrant from that city’s police department for child indecency charges.

“Helping our law enforcement partners locate fugitives of the law, especially those sought for allegedly causing harm to children is one of the many duties CBP officers perform daily,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/ Anzalduas.

On Feb. 17, 2021, CBP officers at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge encountered Mr. Garza arriving from Mexico as a pedestrian. During the primary inspection, it was discovered that he was a possible match to an arrest warrant therefore officers escorted him to secondary where biometric verification confirmed the outstanding warrant from the McAllen Police Department. The warrant was issued on Feb. 16 for an incident where Mr. Garza allegedly had inappropriate contact with a minor female under the age of 17 and was charged with two counts of indecency with a child, both second-degree felonies.
