Juvenile Male Taken into Custody for City's Latest Homicide

The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified 15-year-old Eriya Ruiz as the victim of multiple stab wounds.

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - At approximately 3:09 am on Friday, June 2, 2023, officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of Pennine Way reference an injured party. Upon arrival officers located a juvenile female outside of the residence with serious injuries. Responding officers administered life savings measures on scene until medic units arrived, at which point the victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division arrived on scene as this was determined to be a Homicide Investigation.

Through their investigation, Homicide Investigators quickly identified a suspect and were able to determine that the parties were known to each other. Detectives secured a directive to apprehend for a juvenile male in connection with the Murder.

On Saturday, June 3, 2023, an attorney for the juvenile male identified the whereabouts of the offender and arranged for the juvenile male to turn himself in.

At approximately 11:51 am, the juvenile male was taken into custody without incident and has since been transported to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.
