CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - On Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:49pm, officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Green Park Drive in reference to a shooting with injuries.

Officers arrived and found multiple gunshot victims and began providing life-saving measures to each victim. Another medic unit transported an 18-year-old black female to a local hospital with critical but stable injuries. A 15-year-old Hispanic female victim sustained a graze wound and was treated on scene by medics (she was not transported to the hospital).

Officers quickly secured the scene and began speaking with witnesses. Homicide detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division arrived and began conducting their investigation. It was found that a fight started between two males who knew each other. The 31-year-old male victim attempted to break up the fight when he, along with the 18-year-old female victim and 15-year-old female victim, were all shot by a Hispanic male suspect. The suspect fled the scene. The other 18-year-old male victim involved in the fight also fled the scene but was later contacted by officers and found that he did not have any injuries. Detectives were able to identify the offender as 17-year-old Rueben Lopez.

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Detectives secured two warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, first bond amount $500,000 and second bond amount $250,000, for Rueben Lopez. At 12:25pm on Sunday, October 29, 2023, patrol officers located Rueben Lopez on the 4800 block of Dodd Street where he was taken into custody for the outstanding warrants.
