First Seizure for RPD K9 Roscoe

ROCKPORT, TEXAS – (News Release) On the evening of November 18th, the Rockport Police Department (RPD) celebrated a significant achievement in its law enforcement efforts as K9 Roscoe assisted in the first seizure of illegal substances since his deployment.
The incident occurred when Patrol Officer and K9 Handler E. Garcia conducted a traffic stop for speeding in the 1600 block of Business Highway 35 S. After detaining the vehicle, Officer Garcia called upon K9 Roscoe, a trained substance detection and bite dog, to assist in the search.
K9 Roscoe successfully alerted Officer Garcia to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Following this alert, and in conjunction with existing probably cause, Officer Garcia conducted a search, uncovering over 2 ounces of marijuana and 3 fully loaded handguns. The items are now under investigation.
