CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi Fire Department Ambulance Bus (AMBUS) is on the scene in Jackson County, near Ganado, to help treat over 100 undocumented individuals locked in a disabled tractor-trailer.

The individuals were found in the back of the tractor-trailer during a traffic stop on US Highway 59 near County Road 202, just east of Ganado.

The CCFD AMBUS team is responding with the Fort Bend AMBUS team to provide medical assistance to the individuals.

“The Corpus Christi Fire Department is ready, willing, and able to send competent and professional Firefighters and Paramedics on our AMBUS to medical emergencies and mass casualty incidents anywhere in the state of Texas,” said CCFD Chief Robert Rocha. “We are making a difference in the protection of life and property.”

In October 2021, the AMBUS was dispatched to provide medical assistance when a prisoner transport bus rolled over on US Highway 281 near George West. Several prisoners were transported to a local hospital, where they received medical attention.
