Nueces County Sheriff

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - (News Release) On the weekend of Aug 10th, the Nueces County Sheriff's Office hosted a unique 16-hour ALERRT active shooter training utilizing the County Court House. The training consisted of some classroom time, however the majority of the training was hands on with scenario training and partial application of what to do in case an active shooter was to enter the Court House. The knowledge gained from this training is invaluable and will help our Deputies be prepared should the need arise.

Senate Bill 1852, in effect September 1, 2023 essentially mandates the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to adjust the minimum training requirements so that all Texas Peace Officers must attend a minimum of 16 hours of ALERRT active shooter training per 2 year training cycle.
