CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The City of Corpus Christi’s Development Services team is moving forward with a year-long project to help the City ensure a more equitable, intentional, and sustainable approach to development. The project includes creating four new comprehensive master plans for its water, wastewater, storm water, and roadway infrastructure in new subdivisions and conducting an impact fee study based on the adopted master plans.

The master plans and impact fee study will provide the City with a better way to fund the infrastructure needed for future development. The City contracted with Pape-Dawson Engineers on the project.

“Developing and adopting comprehensive utility master plans ensures Corpus Christi continues to be a great place to live, work, and play,” said Development Services Director Al Raymond. “Finding an intentional, equitable, and sustainable way to fund needed infrastructure is at the core of what will make our City great for years to come.”

The benefits of the project are:

  • Shifting the cost associated with new infrastructure from current residents to developers and future residents

  • More equity in the way areas of the City are developed

  • Developers will have a more consistent and reliable process for acquiring land in the City

A Capital Improvement Advisory Committee was appointed last year by City Council and provided input to the City’s decision-making process. The public can provide feedback at www.developing-our-future-cc.com.
