CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The newly formed Neighborhood Services Department will hold its first community event on Saturday, June 19, 2021. The event titled Connections to Assistance will be held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Broadmoor Senior Center located at 1651 Tarlton Street in Corpus Christi Council District 2.

The focus of the event is to provide working or recently out of work families immediate access to resources that support housing stability. City staff and community partners will be on-site to offer services that include:

  • Rental assistance for residents experiencing housing instability due to the COVID-19 pandemic

  • In-person job fair for employment with the City’s Parks & Recreation, Solid Waste Services, Animal Care Services, and Gas departments

  • Registration for affordable childcare options for working families

  • Free household pet microchipping and vaccinations

“We are so happy to provide this opportunity for residents to receive valuable information and services, and we look forward to more of these community events in the future,” Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo said.

District 2 Council Member Ben Molina encourages residents to attend the event. “For families thinking of seeking rental assistance, this event is a good opportunity to go ask questions and get answers about the help that is available,” Molina said.

The Gulf Coast Humane Society will be providing free pet vaccinations, and The Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend will also be participating in the job fair.
