CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – The City of Corpus Christi, in partnership with Whitecap North Padre Island, announces the start of the Commodores Drive Bridge Project.

The new 5-lane bridge will enable connected boat traffic from the north to south sides of Padre Island. The new open water connection will allow for improved water circulation, resulting in improved water quality through the canals. The bridge will allow for a 14-foot air draft clearance underneath for boat traffic.

The $9.2M project begins with the construction of a temporary bypass roadway along Commodores Drive west of Compass Street, adjacent to the project, which will allow traffic to continue on Commodores Drive while the new bridge is built.

Pavement markings and utilities will also be upgraded with this project.
