CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – With the holidays fast approaching, Corpus Christi Solid Waste Services wants to remind everyone to continue their recycling efforts.

“Each year during this season, we notice a significant uptick in our recycling collections,” said David Lehfeldt, Director of Solid Waste. “This increase can be attributed to the combined efforts of our residents who recycle wrapping paper, cardboard, Christmas trees, and many other materials. We encourage everyone to continue these practices year-round to promote sustainability and turn recycling into a joyful tradition."

Corpus Christi Solid Waste Services reports that the amount of recycled materials collected for FY 2023-2024 has exceeded that of the previous year, with approximately 10,761 tons collected from October 2023 through September 2024.

Here are some helpful tips to Recycle Right:

  • Seasonal mail, greeting cards, holiday catalogs, magazines, and newspapers.

  • Tin and aluminum cans and plastic tubs for butter, cream cheese, sour cream, etc., that are empty, clean, and dry.
