CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo and the City Council heard the first reading of the proposed Short-Term Rental Ordinance that amends Chapter 5 of the City’s Code of Ordinances to require registration of any residential property that is rented to another party for a period of less than 30 consecutive days in all areas of Corpus Christi that are appropriately zoned for short-term rentals.

Short-term rental registration and permitting programs are used across the state and country to better manage and enforce regulations governing these types of rental units. Due to their popularity as an accommodation option for visitors to the Corpus Christi area, the City has developed this ordinance as a first step toward addressing their proper permitting and enforcement while maintaining a positive quality of life in neighborhoods.

This initial step will be followed by an additional phase that will include stakeholder involvement to address land use and other regulatory issues related to short-term rentals citywide.
