Bishop Police Department

BISHOP, TEXAS - (News Release) The Bishop Police Department’s motto is, “Committed to Serving Our Community”. One of the many ways in which they show their commitment is by bringing awareness to issues that impact members of the community.

October is known nationally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer affects friends and family members of many in the community and the goal is to start a conversation in order to help raise awareness and encourage early screenings and detection of this horrible disease.

To reinforce the effort, every October the Bishop Police Department partners with the National Pink Patch Project to wear pink BPD uniform patches on their uniforms. The mission of the national Pink Patch Project resonates with Bishop Police Department Officers / Staff - to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and that’s why they choose to participate in this program.

Bishop Police Department Officers who make a donation of at least $25 to a nonprofit cancer organization of their choice will be authorized to wear the pink patches on their uniforms throughout the months of October and November. The pink patches will also be available for sale to the public later this month, for a donation of $10 per patch. All proceeds raised from the sale of pink patches will be donated to local organizations assisting in the fight against cancer.

Bishop PD will be sharing more information about cancer awareness and our pink patch project on our Facebook page throughout the month of October. Citizens are encouraged to engage and share their stories of courage and survival.
