Oscar Rivera, San Patricio County Sheriff

SAN PATRICIO COUNTY, TEXAS - (News Release) As it gets closer to the New year Sheriff Oscar Rivera would like to remind everyone that, starting January 1, 2025 you will no longer required to get the annual State Inspection to renew your vehicle registration. There’s a catch, you are responsible for your personal equipment inspection, it’s on you. Brakes, worn tires, bad wipers, cracked windshields, seatbelts, exhaust, headlights, turn signals, tail lights, stop lights, horn, & yes, license plate light are all items that need to check on our vehicles for safe operation. Law enforcement work a number of equipment related crashes and you can expect more law enforcement intervention. A small inspection fee is much cheaper than an equipment violation fine. You will “still” have to pay the $7.50 inspection fee tacked on to our registration fee. COMMERCIAL VEHICLES are still required to get annual inspections. Before you make that planned trip with the family, please check your vehicle for an enjoyable journey. Be safe, your life matters.
