2 People Arrested for Robert Drive Homicide

Corpus Christi Police Department

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On January 12, 2024, at approximately 6:18 PM, Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Robert Drive in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, they observed the Corpus Christi Fire Department administering first aid to the 28-year-old male victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary information indicates that several individuals met at this location. For reasons currently unknown, the encounter escalated, resulting in the victim being shot. The suspects subsequently fled the scene in an unidentified vehicle.

It is believed that the victim and offenders are known to each other, and this is not a random act of violence.

20-year-old Jesse Diaz.

On Monday, January 13, 2025, Detectives secured an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Jesse Diaz for murder, bond $750,000. Diaz was arrested and was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.

Through their investigation, Homicide Detectives were able to identify a second person of interest.

20-year-old Amber Salazar.

U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force Officers and CCPD Officers located 20-year-old Amber Salazar at the 4800 block of Kendall Drive and arrested him on an unrelated, outstanding warrant for burglary of habitation, bond $30,000.

Salazar was transported to the Main Station to be interviewed by Homicide Detectives. Detectives then obtained a murder warrant for Salazar, bond $750,000 and he was additionally charged. Salazar was transported to the City Detention Center for booking.
