Bishop Police Department

BISHOP (News Release) - At approximately 2 am on Thursday, April 20, 2023, Bishop Police Department Shift II Patrol Officers, along with Nueces County Sheriff's Office Deputies and Texas DPS Troopers responded to the area of U.S. Highway 77 Northbound and County Road 12, for reports of a commercial motor vehicle (18-Wheeler) that went off the roadway into a ditch and overturned.

Upon arrival responding officers located the overturned 18-wheeler and discovered the load of Avocados was lost on the highway and ditch.

There were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Recovery and clean up efforts took over 3 hours to complete and traffic was diverted from U.S. Highway 77 North onto the access road during this time.

Texas DPS Troopers conducted the subsequent investigation.
